Spring Meetings | IMF & World Bank

A Mozambican delegation led by Carla Loveira, Minister of Finance, which included His Excellencies Estevão Pale, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Rogério Zandamela, Governor of the Bank of Mozambique, and staff from these three institutions, participated from 21 to 26 April in Washington D.C. in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The WB and IMF spring meetings take place annually in Washington D.C.-USA and aim to discuss international economic issues, development and financial stability.

The participation of the Mozambican delegation in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF represented a strategic moment for strengthening cooperation with multilateral partners and advancing discussions that are fundamental for the country’s stability and economic growth. The negotiations on a new program in line with the Government’s commitment to structural reforms that ensure solid and inclusive macroeconomic management stand out. At the same time, the promotion of structural projects in the energy sector, such as Mpanda Nkuwa and the Temane Thermal Power Plant, as well as financing opportunities and public-private partnerships, to accelerate digitalization, job creation and increase climate resilience.
